World Meeting of Families Ireland 2018

World Meeting of families Ireland 2018

Pope Francis has chosen Ireland to host the 9th World Meeting of Families during 2018. The dates and theme of the Meeting will be announced by Pope Francis himself.

In 2018, the 9th World Meeting of Families is expected to attract thousands of Catholic families from around the globe to Ireland. It is hoped that this very special pastoral initiative will present all of us in the Church with the opportunity, and the challenge, to renew, support and strengthen Irish families in their commitment to their faith. Hosting a global event of this size requires a huge amount of planning and financial outlay on behalf of the country. Accordingly, our bishops have now established a National Finance Committee to provide advice on the financial planning for the World Meeting of Families in Ireland. To support the hosting of the event we intend to hold three national church collections, the first of which will take place on this weekend 28th -29th May, and the collection will be taken up after  Holy Communion at each Mass. The remaining collections will take place in 2017 and 2018. Please visit worldmeeting2018.ie for more details.
