Sacraments & Funerals

Celebrating the sacraments is at the core of our parish life. Our big moments in life are marked in a solemn way from womb to tomb.

Here we provide all the details for the celebration of the sacraments in our parish.

Baptism

Baptism is celebrated in our parish at the following times:

  • First Sunday of the month at 1:15pm.
  • Third Saturday of the month at 3pm

* These times and dates may be changed to accommodate weddings and other Churchliturgies.

Eucharist

A programme of preparation for First Holy Communion takes place in schoolthroughout the year. The First Communion ceremonies take place in the month of May.  This year First communion for the Parishes’ three schools will take place on the following dates:

  • St Joseph’s Boys National School : May 2nd at 11am.
  • Bun Scoil Lughaidh Naofa: May 9th at 11am.
  • Scoil Rois: May 16th at 11am.

Reconciliation

Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession) takes place on:

  • Saturdays at 11:30am
  • Eves of Holy Days at 11:30am
  • The eve of the First Friday at 10:30am

In addition, Penitential services are held twice yearly in Advent and Lent. See Parish Bulletin for details.

Confirmation

Confirmation is celebrated each year in our parish. The date for confirmation 2023 : Saturday 6th May at 11am – The Parish of Machaire Rois

Marriage

Sacrament of the Sick

Every First Friday of the month, the priests visit the housebound with Holy Communion. If you are unable to attend Mass due to illness or frailty and would like to be visited by a priest on the First Friday, please feel free to contact Yvonne in the Parish Office, Tel: 042 966 1231, to be included on the First Friday visits.
